Memorial

Memorial casts

At Melbourne Creations, we create hand-crafted memorial sculptures that celebrate the lives of those we’ve lost—people and pets alike. Each piece is made with care, compassion, and a deep respect for the stories that shape us.

We believe that art has the power to comfort, to heal, and to hold memories in a tangible, lasting form. Whether you're looking for a personalised tribute or a quiet symbol of remembrance, we’re here to walk beside you with empathy and artistry.

We know this is a tender journey. Our process is guided by patience, respect, and sensitivity at every step. Let us help you create a lasting tribute—one that speaks in the quiet language of form, texture, and love.

Our memorial castings are individually created with care. Indicative pricing is below.

One adult hand on base or frame £405
Two hands on a base £605
Adult face casting £395

We also offer memorial castings for babies and children—a tender and deeply personal way to honour a life, no matter how brief. I understand how delicate and emotional this time can be, and I’m here to support you with care and sensitivity. Each casting is priced individually, based on your wishes and needs.

Please contact us for a confidential, no obligation conversation.

FAQ's

How do I book an appointment?
You are welcome to call, email or fill out a contact form to book an appointment for a memorial casting. From there, we will contact the funeral home to arrange an appointment for the casting. You don't need to attend this appointment, but we will advise you of the appointment date and time.

How do you make the cast?
We use skin-safe alginate to form a detailed mould of a hand, capturing the finest details.
You are able to choose the hand you'd like casting. Once the mould has set, the mould is filled with a stone mixture and the cast is created. Throughout the casting process, minimal movement is required to ensure comfort, respect, and dignity at all times.

How is payment made?

We don't ask for a deposit for memorial casting and we are flexible with payment arrangements. We will discuss with you what your preference is; you can choose to pay in full after the casting has been taken, we can arrange a payment plan or you can pay in full on collection of the cast.

Do I need to make any decisions about the finished piece when I book?
We appreciate and understand that this is a difficult and emotional time, and there isn't a rush to make any decision regarding the cast colour, base colour or plaque. The only thing we'd need to know beforehand is whether you'd like the cast to be framed as a lighter stone will be used to create the cast to allow for framing. We will contact you at a suitable period and if you need more time, we will store the cast until you are ready to discuss it. Due to limited space, we're afraid we're unable to store casts longer than a year.

I'd like to have a two hand cast - what is the process?
For a two-hand casting, we initially create a cast of your loved one’s hand at the funeral home. At a later date, you will be invited to our studio, where we will cast your hand and seamlessly incorporate it with your loved one’s casting, resulting in a single sculpture that joins both hands together. There is only a base option available for a two hand cast due to the weight of the cast.
